History of the black cumin:
Black
cumin, “blessed seed” have been held in high regard as a
medicinal herb for more than three thousand years. Indigenous
to the Mediterranean region, later has been cultivated into
other parts of World, thus has acquired various names:
English-Black Cumin, Hindi-Kalounji, Arabian-Habbatul
barakah (Seed of blessing), Turkish-Çörekotu,
Russian-Чернушка. It was
descovered in Tutankhamon’s tomb, mentioned in the Bible, used
by ancient Greeks, and was a part of the old Indian and
Chinese medicine. In the Islamic World, has been highly
appreciated earning the Arabic name Habbatul barakah (Seed of
blessing), after the Prophet Mohammad savs, according to
Hadith stated that in the black cumin there is a cure for
every illness except death.
Traditional use:
Black
seed has been traditionally used in the middle and far east
for centuries to treat

ailments including bronchial asthma and bronchitis,
rheumatism and related inflammatory diseases, to
increase milk production in nursing mothers, to treat
digestive disturbances, to support the body's immune system,
to promote digestion, and to fight parasitic infestation. The
black seed oil has been used to treat skin conditions such as
eczema and boils and is used topically to treat cold symptoms.
Modern scientific evidences:

than 200 scientific studies have confirmed that black cumin
strenghten the immune
system, inhibit histamin release (anti-histamine
activity) (nigellone), prevents cancer formation and even
destroys some cancerous cells, acts as an anti-inflammatory
agent (thymoquinone). Thus scientific studies mainly
justified it’s traditional use and even expand possible
benefits in treatment of various ailments.
