PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES:
Marigold ointment has been used to speed wound
healing, for cuts, bruises, burns on the skin and mucous
surface. Marigold's
mechanism of action in stimulating wound healing is poorly
understood, although there are some speculations that
carotenoids by stimulating epitelization
and renewal of tissues, strongly participate in this
proces. Triterpenes clearly demonstrate anti-inflammatory actions, in some cases exceeding the
effects of indomethacin. In European Union marigold ointment has been used to treat oral
lesions or slow healing cuts on lips and sores on the oral
mucosa, relying on the immunostimulating and antibacterial
actions of calendula. This is approved by the Commision E. It
has been demonstrated that ointments containing marigold
activate tissue regeneration and epithelial tissue
development.
INDICATIONS:
Poorly healing wounds, cuts, and burns, poorly healing
lip cuts, oral and nasal lesions and sores.
USES:
Three times a day rub in the ointment on the affected
area.
