VIRAL INFECTIONS AND AROMATHERAPY: FLUE:
Treating of viral infections is hard and still unresolved task. Treating of flue is even harder and more enigmatic. Conventional medicine offers very little or almost nothing which would cure viral infections effectively. Instead of this it offers a few procedures wich mainly alleviate a symptoms of desease by giving a medicines which would lower the raised body temperature, relieve the pain, and drain the running nose. But none of these procedures actually cure desease. By this "procedure" the patient's body has left to overcome desease by it's own forces. If these forces are weak or endangered by other deseases or overprescibed antibiotics, then flue could last much longer with the harder course and possible grave outcome. On the contrary, use of aromatherapy to treat the viral infections, especially flue is based on the quite different principles. 1.The most important principle is that essential oils possess direct antiviral properties which render viral patogen inactive. 2.The second one is that essential oils alter the terrain by changing pH and electrical resistance in ways unfavorable to the viral pathogen which impedes it's ability to thrive. 3. The last but not least important principle is that all antiviral essential oils increase levels of immunoglobulin A strengthening the patient's ability to overcome desease. Many essential oils with the scientificaly proven antiviral activity belong to the Lamiaceae family: 1. Dwarf Hyssop oil (Hyssopus officinalis var. decumbens)- active components: linalool and linalool-oxides. 2. Spike lavender oil(Lavandula latifolia)-active components: linalool, camphor, cineole. 3. Lavender oregano-linalool (Origanum dubium) - active components: linalool 67,6%. From the Myrtaceae family antiviral activity has been proven for: 1.Eucalyptus globulus-active components: cineole, limonene. 2. Eucalyptus radiata - active component: cineole. 3. Niaouli oil(MQV) (Melaleuca quinquenervia viridiflora)-active components: limonene, cineole. Very important anti viral oil comes from Madagascar from the leaves of tall tree Ravensara (Ravensara aromatica), which is Malagasy word and actually means "Good leaves" . Ravensara belongs to the Lauraceae family, and has active antiviral components: cineole, sabinene. |
TREATMENT STRATEGY:
The critical moment in the treatment of flue is right at the onset of desease. The crutial thing is at the very beggining of symptom occurrence to create relatively high concentration of essential oils in the organism to counteract the spread of the virus. In order to fulfill this task in a short period of time it is necessary to combine various mode of application or means of delivery a very heterogeneous blend of essential oils. For acute cases Dr Daniel Pénoël, suggests to use up to 12 ml per day of the blend of nontoxic, non-irritant oils, like Eucalyptus radiata, Ravensara aromatica and Hyssopus officinalis var. decumbens. The relative percentage of oils in blend should be: 44: 33: 23 accordingly. This blend should be applied topicaly as follows: 1.Transcutaneous application: Rub the 16 drops of blend on the torax, 16 drops on the back and 16 drops on the soles of the feet. This procedure should be performed every half hour in a three sessions. After that, next session should be repeated after one hour and another one , an hour later. 2.Inhalation: Put 6-8 drops of Ravensara aromatica oil in the pot of hot water and inhale deeply for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, repeat the same procedure with the Hyssopus decumbens oil. Above procedure should be repeated every hour in a four sessions. 3.Internally: One drop of Spike lavender oil (Lavandula latifolia) should be taken every half hour in a teaspoon of honey.Maximal daily intake is 6 drops of Spike lavender oil. Alternatively, we could recommend one drop of Lavender oregano-linalool (Origanum dubium) in a teaspoon of honey ,every half hour . Maximal daily intake is 5 drops of Lavender origano oil. The some preliminary experiments we have already done with the internal use of Lavender oregano-linalool oil in the treatment of flue appears really promising, although for final conclusions it should be done much more relevant studies. 4. Suppositories: 200 mg of Eucalyptus globulus oil in 2 g of Witepsol H-15 and 0,06 g of cera alba. Suppositories should be used two to four times a day. Dr Daniel Pénoël claims if such treatment is begun right at the onset of the flue it can be stopped on it's first day of infection.

BACTERIAL INFECTIONS OF LOWER URINARY TRACT
Cystitis & Medical Aromatherapy
New addition to the
current alternative treatment of lower urinary tract infections
Cystitis is a
bacterial infection of the bladder.
It occurs when the normally sterile lower
urinary tract (urethra and bladder) is infected by bacteria and becomes
irritated and inflamed. Although urological subject, cystitis frequently
affects sexually active women ages 20 to 50 , and majority of first time
diagnosed infections of lower urinary tract including bladder and urethra,
have been revealed by gynecologists on routing examination. Gynecologists
usually take first steps towards laboratory confirmation of desease, and
suggest first order conventional medical therapy. This include following
antibiotics: nitrofurantoin, sulfonamides such as
trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole,amoxicillin, cephalosporins, ciprofloxacin and
doxycycline. More than 85% of cases of cystitis are caused by
Escherichia coli, a Gram negative bacterium found in the lower
gastrointestinal tract. It is usually necessary to apply a long term
antibiotic therapy to erradicate this extremely resistant
bacterium. In our apothecary practice we were convinced by our own
experience in existence of meny recurrent cases of cystitis where even long
term antibiotic therapy failed to erradicate bacterium. In the same time a
growing popularity of the alternative healing methods, led some medical
doctors, naturopathic practitioners, and patients themselfs into perception
that use of the alternative healing methods has not become just usefull, but
often indispensable for treatment of some specific ailments. We have been
trying to choose the best possible alternative healing medicine for this
specific condition.
Accordingly, upon our present knowledge and experience
in Medical Aromatherapy we made a capsules containing organic essential oils
of oregano (Origanum vulgare) 30 mg, and tea tree
(Melaleuca alternifolia) 60 mg, in vegetable basis. Both
essential oils have been proven, by the clinical study and in vitro
laboratory findings, to be effective against Escherichia coli.
Our preliminary study done with the help of volunteers have shown that Escherichia coli
disappeared from urine after 10 days treatment using two capsules a day.
Although more studies have to be done, we have concluded that vegetable
capsules containing these extremely powerful natural antibiotics represent
first class alternative medicine for treatment of lower urinary tract
infections.
