Plant description: This is a small prickly shrub between 1-2 m high, with light pink extraordinary narcotic fragrant blooms and whitish hairy leaves.

History of rose is lasting as long as a history of mankind. As a symbol of love, purity, devotion, inspiration, beauty, spirituality, and sensuality, a rose deserve to be placed on the most notable stand in the whole human spiritual heritage. If the Rose is a Qween of flowers, as it had been written by Greek poetess of Sapho 600 y b.n.e., than the Damask Rose is a Queen of Roses. Although it has been planted all over the world, there are only two places in the world where Damask Rose has been cultivated successfully with the purpose to produce rose essential oil (otto). These two places are:

Kazanlik in Bulgaria and Isparta in Turkey.

Kazanlik in Bulgaria is a unique habitat with the 330 years of continuity in the production of the high quality rose essential oil (otto).

Isparta in Turkey is also unique area favorable for the plantation of Damask Rose and where it has been producing a high quality rose essential oil (otto).

The rose essential oil (otto) has been produced by steam distillation of the freshly gathered rose petals and has been designated as the rose oil (otto). The type of distillation process is somewhat specific, namely after a first distillation, produced hydrosol has been undergone to the second distillation and the oils  produced from the both distillations has been blended. The essential oil is a pale yellow with the rich floral narcotic scent.
