In our apothecary practice, we endeavour to apply in our work, recent scientifically proven facts, from herbal medicine. We draw especial attention to the application of bipolar (holistic) herbal extracts, and essential oils in the production of galenic medicinal products.

In view of therapeutical application of essential oils which has been termed as an AROMATHERAPY in a broader sense , it is important to emphasize that a great advance has been made in view of scientifical validation of the therapeutical efficiency of some essential oils.

Treatment of infectious deseases with essential oils took a form of clinical medical discipline after extensive research done by Dr Paul Belaiche and than followed by Dr Pierre Franchomme and Dr Daniel Pénoël.

This unique approach to the therapeutical application of essential oils has become renown as the French School of Aromatherapy, Medical Aromatherapy, or AROMAMEDICINE. Combining of modern scientific arguments gained from in-vitro laboratory research with their corresponding clinical application, and with the still clearly preserved holistic orientation, represent the main characteristics of this approach.

Antimicrobial activity of essential oils is usually investigating by the technique resembling to antibiogram, and which has been termed AROMATOGRAM. This technique enables us to verify antimicrobial activity of the essential oils to the some isolated microorgamisms, and to treat infection selectivelly by using efficient essential oils.

The vast advance in the scientific verification of the medical applicability of essential oils has been done in the case of Australian Tea Tree oil (Melaleuca alternifolia). It's antimicrobial activity has been studied extensivelly, and led to conclusion that the oil is active against all three patogenic microorganisms: bacteria, fungi and viruses, and of special clinical interest is it's activity against Candida albicans, Propionibacterium acne, and Staphylococcus aureus.
