Latin name:(Rosa damascena var trigintipetala,  Rosaceae)

Common name: Damask Rose

Country of origin: Bulgaria and Turkey

Geographic origin: Plantation Kazanlik (Rose Valley), Southeastern Bulgaria and Isparta Turkey

Contents: Product contains genuine and authentic essential oil of Damask rose (otto), (Rosa damascena var Trigintipetala, Rosaceae) in vegetable basis.

Plant description: This is a small prickly shrub between 1-2 m high, with light pink extraordinary narcotic fragrant blooms and whitish hairy leaves.

 

History of rose is lasting as long as a history of mankind. As a symbol of love, purity, devotion, inspiration, beauty, spirituality, and sensuality, a rose deserve to be placed on the most notable stand in the whole human spiritual heritage. If the Rose is a Qween of flowers, as it had been written by Greek poetess of Sapho 600 y b.n.e., than the Damask Rose is a Queen of Roses. Although it has been planted all over the world, there are only two places in the world where Damask Rose has been cultivated successfully with the purpose to produce rose essential oil (otto). These two places are:

Kazanlik in Bulgaria and Isparta in Turkey.

Kazanlik in Bulgaria is a unique habitat with the 330 years of continuity in the production of the high quality rose essential oil (otto).

Isparta in Turkey is also unique area favorable for the plantation of Damask Rose and where it has been producing a high quality rose essential oil (otto).

 

Rose oil

The rose essential oil (otto) has been produced by steam distillation of the freshly gathered rose petals and has been designated as the rose oil (otto). The type of distillation process is somewhat specific, namely after a first distillation, produced hydrosol has been undergone to the second distillation and the oils  produced from the both distillations has been blended. The essential oil is a pale yellow with the rich floral narcotic scent.

 

PRINCIPAL INGREDIENTS:

Alcohols monoterpenols: citronellol  28 %, geraniol 18 %, nerol 8%, linalool 2%.

Alcohols sesquiterpenol: farnesol 1,5 %.

Aromatic alcohol: phenyl ethyl alcohol  2%

Monoterpene hydrocarbons: stearoptene: 20%, alpha-pinene, beta-pinene, alpha-terpinene,

                                         limonene, p-cymene, camphene.

Sesquiterpene hydrocarbon: beta-caryophyllene.

Aldehyde: neral.

Esters: citronellyl acetate, geranyl i neryl acetate.

Phenolic ether: methyl eugenol.

Oxide: rose oxide 0,3%

Other characteristic constituents: damascenone 1%.

 

PROPERTIES AND INDICATIONS:

Aromatherapy:

As a first among the most precious oils in aromatherapy, the oil of rose from the aromachological point of view, belongs to the tipical cephalics, acting through the lymbic system on the highest brain centers, soothing depression, nervous tensions and stress. It also helps to alleviate headache and insomnia, and as a powerful sexual tonic helps in treating

frigidity and impotence, as well as soothing the psychological disturbances experienced by the  women  in menopausa. The rose oil above all, arises positive emotions, enthusiasm and a fealling  of selfconfidence.  

  

Local  therapy:

When applied locally on the skin the rose oil demonstrates it's  mild antiseptic, antiinflammatory, and astringent properties. It helps to heal of broken capillaries, Herpes(limonene), eczema, and protects the skin from wrinckles ans scars formation. It also may prevent a striae formation, and has showen to be a favorable for a care of dry and sensitive skin.

 

Method of application:

Aromatherapy:

For aromatherapy the best way to apply rose oil is a combination of inhalation and massage:

- Put the 5 - 6 drops of blended rose oil on the piece of cloth and inhale for 5 minutes and

  after that aplly 3 drops of oil on the each temple, rub and massage for 10 minutes.

- Then repeat the procedure of inhalation and massage two times in a half an hour.

The first sign of activity can be observed after 8 minutes, and full activity after 25 minutes from the start of therapy.

Local  application:

For the care of dry and sensitive skin, twice a day , in the morning and in the evening apply 6-8 drops of rose oil on the around the eyes area, on the neck and forehead and massage 10 minutes.

For the prevention of striae formation ,10 -15 drops of rose oil rub twice a day on the base of abdomen and massage 15 minutes.

For treating of Herpes and eczema, three times a day 2-3 drops of rose oil apply directly to the affected area.
